Is there a list of the services that are provided by the libraries of CCBC?
"Yes, there is a list (see below). However, please understand that this is not an all-inclusive list. Also, services that are delivered by the CCBC Library team can be adjusted or expanded to take on new projects or initiatives as needed.
This list attempts to explain the services of the CCBC Library through 10 of its most essential offerings. Some services are directly delivered to students and some happen as either faculty services or operational services which ultimately benefit student learning.
- Research Help Giving direct answer and research assistance for general and complex questions and referrals that are handled at the information service desks (and by phone and online chat) at each campus library.
- Research Appointments Teaching students to conduct research and to format citations through scheduled appointment sessions (both face to face and virtual in MS Teams/Zoom), during onsite walk-in interactions, in virtual chat messaging or also in the general search and navigation of the article databases, online catalog and other online resources.
- Library Material Access Assisting all library borrowers with awareness and access to readings and media materials: Services include: general circulation of borrowed, renewed and returned items, interlibrary lending and borrowing, navigating the physical organization of shelved items, verifying the availability of items and also setting up temporary special displays of items.
- Basic Tech Support Providing basic and intermediate onsite support for computers, printing, scanning, photocopying and other technology products that are available at each campus library.
- Study Areas Facilitating onsite access to spaces for group collaboration and individual study.
- Course Reserves Maintaining a course reserve collection which contains a selection of commonly used and instructor requested printed textbooks, special readings, films on-disc and anatomy models.
- Classroom Library Instruction: Offering librarian-led classroom instruction for students that can be arranged by course professors. The main purpose of library classroom instruction is to delve into source research and information literacy that pertains to general or specific assignments.
- Supporting College Enrichment Collaboratively supporting curricular, co-curricular, professional or other enrichment events across the college with either with library personnel expertise or with materials from the library collections as needed.
- Maintaining Library Collections Working behind the scenes on the selection, development, cataloging, processing, organization and maintenance of collections that are comprised of: special materials, books, media, digital information resources and research guides. These assets and resources are either owned, borrowed, subscribed, leased, or by CCBC as an institution and they tend to cover a wide scope of intellectual and academic topics geared toward the curriculum and activities of the college.
- Committee Representatives Being academic library representatives and contributors to many college-wide committees that advance teaching, learning and other initiatives of CCBC as a higher education institution. This also includes committee work to address textbook affordability and the growth of free and low-cost open access educational resources for students.
